Since I was old enough to hold a brush or a pencil, I've been painting and drawing. My mother, who was an amazing artist, was my first teacher and mentor. My fondest memories of her are the pure joy that came from expressing herself creatively. I will be forever grateful for her love and support.
Those experiences fueled my desire to create and my early years were consumed by all thing’s comics and cartoons. I was certain I would become a comic book artist or work as an animator for Disney and so I spent hours drawing my favorite characters. My mom, having raised three children, repeatedly urged me to develop a practical business skill. “Just in case,” she used to say, “to pay the bills while you chase your dreams.” So, I went to college and pursued my passion for art while also developing skills in business and finance.
Not surprising after college, finding work in finance was a lot easier than jobs as an illustrator. As a professional career in business took center stage, I found myself with less and less time to focus on my dreams as an artist. I had a strong itch that was becoming harder and harder to scratch.
But just when I thought my path was set, life intervened. In December 2017. 1,300 homes were lost to the Thomas Fire, including mine, and became the catalyst for me to begin a deep, personal reflection on what I wanted out of life.
As the world has continued to change in ways I never imagined, I knew it was time for me to change as well. In many aspects, this website represents that change. It represents my decision to leave my career in business and finally pursue my true North as an artist. As you will discover, my creative outlets are not in a single medium and vary, from authoring and illustrating children’s books, to painting murals, graphic arts for business, and of course, fine art.
I appreciate your time and if I can help you with a creative project, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
